Low Cost Fire Safety Training

PROACTIVE Fire Safety Consultants are running a number of Basic Fire Awareness Courses specifically aimed at the small to medium sized business. You can have your staff trained at a fraction of the cost you would normally expect to pay for this type of course. Employers can send one or more staff on these courses and in doing so will help to fulfill their statutory obligations. The courses last for approx' 2hrs and will be held in Mallusk Enterprise Park on the morning of (11th, 18th and 25th June). Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided. Fire Safety Training for Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service

In February 2008 PROACTIVE Fire Safety Consultants provided the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service with a one week modularised fire safety training course for watch and crew commanders (Managing Technical Fire Safety). This course was delivered by PROACTIVE in the NIFRS Training Centre at Boucher Crescent. The course covered relevant fire safety topics such as Legislation, Building construction, Means of Escape , Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Alarm Systems. The course group was made up of crew and watch commanders and those officers with more fire safety experience who would then deliver further courses. It is envisaged that PROACTIVE will carry out an audit of the process later in the year.

Co-op Group fined £250,000 for fire safety offences

A catalogue of serious safety breaches in a major supermarket chain's stores across East Sussex put shoppers' lives at risk, fire crews have said. The Co-op Group was fined £250,000 after 38 out of 41 of its stores failed to meet proper safety standards.

The fine was imposed after the firm admitted 13 offences. Costs of £11,176 were awarded to the fire authority. (Source: BBC News)

Belfast Nightclub Extensively Damaged By Suspicious Blaze

The fire broke out at Dempsey's bar on the Dublin Road at around 4am today. More than 50 firefighters and nine appliances attended the scene. There was nobody inside the building at the time, but the blaze took about an hour to get under control. The Dublin Road was reduced to one lane by police this morning as they investigated the scene.
